Chemical Engineering Medal

Since 2013, the Depart­ment of Chem­istry and Applied Bios­ciences at ETH Zurich has awar­ded the Chem­ic­al Engin­eer­ing Medal to research­ers whose work has made an excep­tion­al impact in the field.

I was com­mis­sioned to design this pres­ti­gi­ous medal, which reflects both aca­dem­ic excel­lence and insti­tu­tion­al iden­tity. The front fea­tures ETH Zurich’s icon­ic main build­ing, while the reverse illus­trates the four core areas recog­nized by the award: sus­tain­ab­il­ity, mater­i­als, struc­tures, and pro­cesses.

The 8 cm-wide plaque is cast in a cus­tom met­al alloy and visu­ally aligns with ETH’s cor­por­ate iden­tity, com­bin­ing sym­bol­ic clar­ity with last­ing phys­ic­al pres­ence.
